Agri-entrepreneurship and agribusiness models discussed by DA agencies and DOST-PCAARRD

With the aim to strengthen the efforts in achieving the Harmonized National R&D Agenda for the Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Sector (HNRDA-AANR 2017-2022), officials from the Department of Agriculture's Bureau of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR) and Philippine Council for Agriculture and Fisheries (PCAF) visited the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Res ources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) on January 24, 2020.

The visit served as a venue to discuss the proposed DOST-DA workshop that would highlight the successful agri-entrepreneurship and agribusiness models being implemented by both departments.

The DOST-DA Workshop will be held on March 26-27, 2020 at the DOST-PCAARRD Innovation and Technology Center (DPITC), Los Baños, Laguna. DA Secretary William Dar and DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Peña will be invited to said workshop that will focus on the complementation and integration of DOST and DA’s technology transfer efforts, particularly the Technology Business Incubation (TBI) Program.

A core group was formed to work on the details, mechanics, and work plan of the workshop. The said group will meet on February 12, 2020 at DA-BAR and on March 2, 2020 at DOST-PCAARRD. In preparation for the said workshop, concerned agencies are expected to prepare a list of ongoing technology transfer initiatives, total investment per initiative, ecosystem/component of technology transfer initiative, and existing rules and regulations that may affect the technology transfer activities.

The results of the workshop will be presented for possible integration in the HNRDA-AANR 2017-2022 during the upcoming HNRDA Conference in May 2020.
