Banana field day in ComVal bares S&T interventions’ lucrative outcomes

Left photo shows the good quality bananas harvested from the FITS-managed demonstration farm in Compostela Valley. The banana farm owned by farmer cooperator Mr. Eddie S. Cabalan located in San Isidro, Nabuturan, Compostela Valley, shows very minimal occurrence of pests and diseases. Right lower photo shows the participants of the tour/visit to the farms of selected farmer cooperators. When typhoon Pablo hit Compostela Valley in 2012, surviving victims faced a bleak outlook as the massive devastation ripped away their source of living and brought about huge plunge in the province’s economy. Among those, were banana farm workers who made up the bulk of residents of barangays Monkayo and Nabunturan.
