Council director now CES eligible

Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD)- Applied Communication Division Director Lily Ann D. Lando joins the roster of Civil Executive Service (CES) eligibles of 2012.

Dr. Lando and 11 others were conferred by the Career Executive Service Board through the Board’s Resolution no. 986, which states “...have been found to possess the required management capabilities and have passed the prescribed CES examinations”.

A cum laude graduate of the Benguet State University, she has taught plant pathology and development communication courses in the same university for 25 years. She also had her share of extension and research duties.  Some of Dr. Lando’s researches were funded by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research and the Korea International Cooperation Agency.

Aside from being researcher, Dr. Lando contributed a chapter in a publication the American Phytopathological Society on Ralstonia solanacearum, the causal organism of bacterial wilt of solanaceaous crops. She also served as associate editor of the Journal of Tropical Plant Pathology.

She is also a member of the Philippine Phytopathology Society, Philippine Society for the Study of Nature, Conservation Farming Movement, Philippine Science Journalist, Inc., and other professional organizations.

Lando joined PCAARRD in 2006 and is the youngest member of the Council’s Directorate. She, however, is no stranger to PCAARRD, having held various positions at the Highland Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium; first as Regional Applied Communication Officer, then as Regional Management Information Systems Officer, and later as Deputy Director.

Ann, as she is fondly called by friends and family, is a true blue Igorota from Baguio City. She is married to Melchor Amadeo Lando and is blessed with three children.
