DOST heightens public awareness drive for RA 10055

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has boosted its public awareness efforts to make public the newly enacted Republic Act (RA) 10055, also known as the Philippine Technology Transfer Act of 2009.

The DOST, through its Technical Working Committee on the Information Dissemination Program for the Philippine Technology Transfer Act of 2009, pursued various activities to orient stakeholders on the salient provisions of the law. This is alongside the ongoing crafting of the Guidelines on Intellectual Property (IP) Valuation, Commercialization, and Information Sharing.

Part of the campaign is the showing of an audiovisual presentation featuring the milestones of the law and the distribution of booklets on RA 10055 and its implementing rules and regulations, as well as a list of frequently asked questions.

The campaign was done for different agencies, forums, and venues in the country. These include the Metro Manila Industry and Energy Research and Development Consortium, University of San Carlos in Cebu City, ASEAN-United States Patent and Trademark Office Seminar on IP Commercialization, Benguet State University for the Cordillera Administrative Region, and University of the Philippines Los Baños for the Los Baños Science Community.

The law was also highlighted during the national consultations for the Guidelines on IP Valuation, Commercialization and Information Sharing held recently at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
