DOST-PCAARRD holds a meeting with its regional arm

The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) holds a joint meeting with its Regional Research and Development Coordinating Council (RRDCC) chairpersons and consortium directors at the DOST-PCAARRD Innovation and Technology Center (DPITC). The meeting, which will also be a venue for a seminar/workshop on knowledge management, is being held today, November 28 until tomorrow. According to DOST-PCAARRD Acting Executive Director Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, the meeting aims to review the consortia’s achievements and assess if the support given to them is enough to deliver the desired outputs.

>Current and former RRDCC chairpersons and consortium directors as well as staff of PCAARRD and the regional consortia attended the meeting. The consortia present included the following:

• Highland Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (HAARRDEC)
• Cagayan Valley Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CVAARRD)
• Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC)
• Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (STAARRDEC)
• Bicol Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (BCAARRD)
• Western Visayas Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (WESVAARRDEC)

• Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (ARMMAARRDEC)

The regional consortia is composed of 13 entities, the newest of which is ARMAARRDEC, which was established on December 2014. The consortia has a total membership of 226 agencies, 156 of which are R&D implementing agencies. The members of each consortium consist of state colleges and universities and government agencies. The regional consortia enables the Council to conserve scarce resources, minimize research duplications, and complement and integrate R&D efforts, among other advantages.
