DOST-PCAARRD holds training on thesis writing to enhance identified scholars’ capability

The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD), through the Institution Development Division and the Management Information Systems Division, holds the online “Training-workshop on Thesis Writing,” which runs from March 1 to 4, 2021.

The training course aims to assist identified scholars of the Graduate Research and Education Assistantship for Technology (GREAT) Program and the DOST-Human Resource Development Program (HRDP) in developing quality thesis/dissertation manuscript/outline following the principles of effective technical writing. The learning strategy used is synchronous, a real time interaction among trainees and learners, which will be done in four days.

The training course aims to guide its participants, particularly the scholars, to develop a quality thesis manuscript. Dr. Madeline Baguio-Quiamco, Dean of the College of Mass Communication at the Silliman University, serves as the resource person. This is the first of a two-part series of the training-workshop on Thesis Writing and Presentation.

During the Opening Program, Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, Executive Director of DOST-PCAARRD, acknowledged and appreciated the trainees for the 3rd batch of training. Despite the pandemic and other challenges, they have persevered to start with their outline, manuscript, and laboratory or field work. He also mentioned that the DOST-PCAARRD GREAT Program is a unique platform where the goal is to train future researchers, and increase workforce in the Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources (AANR) sector. It also hopes that more researchers will stay in the country to help boost/strengthen Research and Development (R&D) in the Philippines.

This learning activity is attended by the GREAT scholars from CLSU, DLSU, UPLB, UPV, and USM, together with DOST-HRDP scholars (PCAARRD staff), who are currently working on their thesis manuscript/outline and will be finishing their MS & PhD degree soon.
