DOST-PCAARRD policy papers ranked top in the FFTC’s Asia-Pacific Agricultural Policy Platform

The 2nd Food and Fertilizer Technology Center (FFTC) Agricultural Policy Advisory Group Meeting recognized the policy papers of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) as the most popular and top viewed papers in the FFTC Asia-Pacific Agricultural Policy Platform (FFTC-AP) website. The policy papers describe pertinent Philippine laws and regulations in the agriculture, aquatic and natural resources sectors.

Seven of the 10 most popular articles were authored by the Socio-Economics Research Division (SERD) of the Council. The other three papers were from Malaysia, Vietnam, and Thailand. Viewers included researchers, academicians, undergraduate and graduate students, government officers, extension workers, and experts, among others.

The policy paper on Republic Act No. 9275: The Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004 authored by Aquino, Ani, and Correa ranked first with 19,275 hits as of September 2015. The other five papers have views ranging from 3,092 to 6,979.

The Chinese translated paper on Republic Act 10121: An Approach in Strengthening Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in the Philippines authored by Ani, Daquio, and Aquino is the fifth most read in the website.

The FFTC-AP project launched in 2013 aims to provide a venue for information exchange and discussion on agricultural policies in selected countries in the Asia-Pacific region. DOST-PCAARRD is the focal agency for the Philippines. There are currently 11 other countries in the region involved in the project including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Australia.
