The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) recently published four policy briefs that highlight insights and findings from policy analysis studies led and/or supported by the Council.

The 2021 policy briefs cover various areas of concerns in the AANR sector. The newly printed publication titles are: “Rebuilding the Farm-to-Fork Model: A Resilient Agricultural Supply Chain,” “Role of Women in Developing Climate-Smart Seed Systems in the Philippines,” “Fit for a Queen: Restructuring the Philippine National Standards for Queen Pineapple,” and “Towards a Simplified and Better-informed Regulatory System for the Bamboo Industry.”

“Rebuilding the Farm-to-Fork Model: A Resilient Agricultural Supply Chain” proposes the need for a resilient and innovative agricultural food production and distribution system that can adapt to various challenging scenarios.

“Role of Women in Developing Climate-Smart Seed System” examines the role of women in the seed system and proposes research and development (R&D) and policy initiatives that may be pursued to enhance them.

“Fit for a Queen: Restructuring the Philippine National Standards for Queen Pineapple” calls for the updating of the standard grading system for Queen Pineapple combined with an effective information dissemination campaign that will allow farmers to increase their bargaining power.

“Towards a Simplified and Better-informed Regulatory System for the Bamboo Industry'' presents the result of a study on the country’s policy environment on bamboo and compares two scenarios: a) with and b) without Certificate of Verification (CoV), which is a requirement for bamboo harvesting and transport prior to the issuance of DAO 2021-26.

The Socio-Economics Research Division (SERD) and Applied Communications Division (ACD) spearhead the packaging of PCAARRD policy briefs. It is a regular publication which has recently been assigned International Standard Serial Number (ISSN) 2799-1105 by the National Library of the Philippines or the ISSN National Centre of the Philippines.
