The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation (MOU+C) with the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) and the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) on February 10, 2022 for the project, “DOST-PCAARRD Agri-Aqua Innovation Challenge.”
The Agri-Aqua Innovation Challenge will accelerate startups of qualified professionals and students through seed funding and expert mentorship.
Winners of the challenge can win as much as P1 million for the professional start-up category while students may receive prizes and a grant of as much as P400,000.
AIM and DOST-PCAARRD have been partners in supporting Filipino innovators throughout the years. One of their collaborations, the Leaders in Innovation Fellowship (LIF) program, has primed researchers to translate their technologies into products and services to benefit more Filipinos. On the other hand, MAP and AIM have been collaborating since 1992 to propagate excellence in management education through its management education workshops.
This year, the three institutions are collaborating to create a platform where industry, academe, and the government work together to advance the national development of the Philippines by:
- Supporting start-ups to better manage their business and enhance their innovation journey;
- Empowering student teams to translate their technologies into products and services that will benefit the Filipino; and
- Enabling educational institutions to become hotbeds of innovation
The Agri-Aqua Innovation Challenge will run for a year. It will hold a free Overview Info Session on March 9, 2022. Deadline for applications to the program is on March 14, 2022.
