DOST-PCAARRD to participate in AgriApp 2022

AgriApp 2022 will soon be held via Zoom and Facebook Live on March 4-5, 2022. AgriApp 2022 is an international workshop on applied computing in agriculture, which seeks to provide an avenue for demonstrating ways on how artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, remote sensing, and other applied computing fields contribute to the development of data-driven agricultural technologies.

It aims to encourage scientists, researchers, scholars, students and industries to participate in addressing the challenges of food security through the application of smart farming technologies. It also seeks to raise awareness among people and demonstrate the potential of these technologies in contributing to the sustainability of food production.

This two-day activity is organized by the Department of Computer Technology and the Advanced Research Institute for Informatics, Computing and Networking (AdRIC) of De La Salle University – Manila (DLSU), with the assistance of the Department of Biomechatronics Engineering, National Taiwan University (NTU), and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) through its Agricultural Resources Management Research Division.

It was initiated by Dr. Dan Jeric A. Rustia, a Balik Scientist Program (BSP) awardee of DOST. The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation (VCRI) of DLSU and DOST-PCAARRD provided the funding support.

Day 1 sessions will be held online via Zoom and Facebook Live. Topics include 1) Smart Agricultural Technology in the Philippines; 2) Internet of Things, Connectivity, and Big Data in Agriculture; 3) Robotics and Automation in Agriculture; and 4) Artificial Intelligence in Agriculture.

Workshop and Hackathon are scheduled on Day 2. Participants will watch lecture and hands on tutorials on their choice of tracks. Track A is about Deep Learning in Agriculture and Track B is about Internet of Things in Agriculture. The number of participants for Day 2 activities is limited and pre-determined.

The workshop is especially welcoming students/researchers/scholars in the fields of agriculture, agronomy, agricultural engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electronics engineering, mechanical engineering, plant pathology, veterinary science, and all other allied fields.
