Merchants of the Filipino Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii (FCCH) may soon be importing TechnoMart products.

In a visit to the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD), Melody Calisay, FCCH member and East-West Marketing, Inc. head, expressed interest in TechnoMart’s coconut sap sugar or coco sugar and bongulan banana chips.

The Council’s participation to FCCH’s 22nd Trade Mission to the Philippines on February 13 at the Asian Institute of Management Conference Center in Makati City led to the chamber’s curiosity on TechnoMart.

Through FCCH’s trade mission, business activities are increased by means of promoting Hawaii and Philippines as both investment and tourist destinations. Moreover, it encourages trade and economic activity across the Pacific.

Themed “Business opportunities in Hawaii --- Leading the trend in renewable energy creation”, the event was empowered by a workshop on business opportunities in Hawaii particularly in the trade/import-export of goods and products. PCAARRD-assisted science and technology (S&T) products were part of the agenda and were presented to a panel of prospective clients.

After initial talks at the workshop, a visit to PCAARRD’s One Stop Information Shop (OSIS), which displays all S&T products supported by the Council, followed.

It was at this visit where the coconut sap products and bongulan banana chips fully caught the interest of Calisay. According to her, these products have high potentials in penetrating the Hawaii market.

To date, Calisay is negotiating with the Council’s regional partners for the initial shipment to Hawaii of coconut sap products and bongulan banana chips.

Incidentally, FCCH serves as the voice of Filipino businesses in Hawaii. It broadens opportunities for Filipino entrepreneurs and member businesses. It also strengthens business links between Hawaii and the Philippines.
