Fil-Am NASA scientist guests at PEN national symposium

Fil-Am NASA scientist  Josefino C. Comiso.A Fil-Am senior scientist of the Cryospheric Sciences Laboratory of the Earth Sciences Directorate of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)/Goddard Space Flight Center Space will serve as resource speaker at the 4th National Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Resources Extension Symposium on May 2─5 at the Aklan State University in Banga, Aklan.

Dr. Josefino C. Comiso, one of the lead authors of the 2012 Special Report of the United Nations (UN) Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and awardee of the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Balik Scientist Program from 2008 to 2011, was invited by the Philippine Extension Network (PEN) Incorporated, which incidentally sponsored the event. 

 Dr. Comiso will discuss the global perspective of climate change which is aligned with the symposium theme of “Agriculture, fisheries and natural resources extension service: Securing active responses to uncertain weather events”. 

Joining him is Dr. Patricio S. Faylon, executive director of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development, (PCAARRD) who will present the Council’s current initiatives in the sustainable development of the agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources sectors to cope with the extreme effects of climate change.
