Former consortium director receives leadership award

Malab of the Mariano Marcos State University was conferred a leadership award by PCAARRD at its recent awarding and recognition ceremonies held at New World Makati Hotel in Makati City.

Malab was cited for his exemplary leadership and commitment as consortium director of the Ilocos Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (ILARRDEC).

Under his stewardship, the consortium was able to initiate numerous regional R&D programs on goat, bamboo, dragon fruit, and biofuels. These programs have been instrumental in improving the livelihood of many Ilocano farmers and helped in the attainment of the consortium’s S&T development goals and objectives in Region I.

Malab served as ILARRDEC’s consortium director for 15 years, from August 1998 to August 2013.

ILARRDEC is one of the top performers and achievers among PCAARRD’s 14 regional consortia and is a recipient of the Council’s Ugnay Award in 2012.
