Government and private workers trained on root cause and value analysis

Representatives from government organizations, state universities and colleges, and the private sector were trained on the basic concepts, principles, and processes of the root cause and value analysis and value engineering tools and techniques at the Central Luzon State University, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.

Titled Training on Root Cause Analysis and Value Analysis / Value Engineering for Improved R&D Management, the activity was coordinated by the Agricultural Resources Management Research Division (ARMRD) of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Central Luzon Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLAARRDEC) and LAJMAR Management and Technology Resources.

The training improved the participants’ skills on problem identification through root cause analysis, development of corrective and preventive actions, and improvement of cost consciousness on the technologies, products, and systems throughout the project management cycle.

“The training will enhance the effectiveness of R&D programs and projects, particularly in saving time and resources through the use of proper strategies in problem identification. Through precise identification of the problem, we can expect a precise solution,” said Rodolfo O. Ilao, ARMRD-PCAARRD Director.

Thirty participants consisting of project leaders and staff engaged in DOST-PCAARRD-funded R&D programs or projects and other researchers and faculty members who have proposals for future implementation attended the training.

Engr. Raul D. Mercado, Managing Director of LAJMAR Management and Technology Resources; Engr. Francisco C. Dime, Chief at the Design Section, Prototyping Division of the DOST- Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC); and Ms. Jocelyn F. Dime, Head of the Program Implementation, Technology Diffusion Division of the DOST- MIRDC served as resource persons.
