KM4AANR Workshop held in Mindanao

The second leg of the Knowledge Audit and Rapid Knowledge Management (KM) Assessment Workshop was held at the Grand Astoria Hotel in Zamboanga City on October 8 and 9, 2019. A total of 34 participants from Regions 9, 10, and 13 conducted the initial knowledge audits of their respective consortium and institution.

The workshop is part of the program, “Mainstreaming Knowledge Management for the Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources (AANR) Sector” or KM4AANR, funded by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD).

PCAARRD’s KM Consultant, Prof. Jose Rey Alo, led the workshop together with Prof. Erwin Alonzo and Prof. Soledad Salazar of Western Mindanao Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (WESMAARRDEC); Dr. Richard Amansec, Director of PCAARRD’s Management Information Systems Division (MISD), and Ms. Rikki Lee Mendiola of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB).

WESMAARDEC hosted the workshop and arranged the participation of consortia member agencies (CMI) representatives from the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (NOMCAARRD) and Caraga Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development (CCAARRD). The R&D consortia, composed of diverse institutions and universities around the country, are PCAARRD’s partners in implementing its mandate nationwide.

These workshops aim to identify, audit, and harmonize the consortia’s individual KM systems. The expected output is a unified KM system for the S&T knowledge generated by the AANR network of researchers and a sustainability plan for the consortia-wide institutionalization of KM for the AANR S&T sector. The unified KM system for AANR will be available to the public by 2021.
