“DOST-PCAARRD is committed to assist in increasing the competitiveness of the mussel industry,” declares Dr. Dalisay DG. Fernandez, Director of the Inland Aquatic Resources Research Division (IARRD) of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD), during the press conference of the First Philippine Mussel Congress held in Iloilo City.

Through the DOST-PCAARRD Mussel Industry Strategic S&T Program, Dr. Fernandez shares that “efforts towards the development of processing and production technologies are being done to enable farmers to produce quality and safe cultured and processed mussel products.”

DOST-PCAARRD’s commitment is in line with the theme of the Congress, “Bigger and Safer Mussels for every Juan,” attended by about 150 researchers, farmers, LGU officials and R&D administrators from different agencies working on the mussel R&D
