PCAARRD joins Ph-Argentina bilateral consultation meeting

Faylon joined the 2nd Philippines-Argentina Bilateral Consultation Meeting (BCM) held recently at the Diamond Hotel, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.

The BCM is a venue for the Philippines and Argentina as diplomatic allies to tackle the focused areas and opportunities of cooperation.

Leading the Philippine delegation was Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Undersecretary for Policy Evan P. Garcia, while the Argentine Republic was led by Ministry for Foreign Affairs and Worship Undersecretary for Foreign Policy Maria del Carmen Squeff.

Both countries agreed to focus on expanding and taking advantage of their economic complementarities and explore areas of cooperation particularly in sports, culture, and diplomatic training.

Another highlight of the BCM was the presentation of recommendations for the Philippines-Argentina Technical Cooperation Plan of Action for 2012―2014.

Joining Faylon was PCAARRD-Policy Coordination and Monitoring Division Director Leah J. Buendia. Buendia is the chair of the Joint Working Group on Technical Cooperation that reviewed and evaluated the progress of projects under the Plan of Action for 2012―2014 during the Mid-Term Evaluation Meeting (MTEM) held at DFA in Manila.

Participation in the MTEM and BCM is vital to the implementation of the Council’s proposed project with the Argentina-based Servicio Nacional de Sanidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria. . The project is titled “Capacity building and knowledge sharing on pest and pest management to ensure food security and food safety in the Philippines and Argentina.”
