PCAARRD Recommended for ISO 9001:2008 Certification after 1st Surveillance Audit

Despite the “orange warning” raised over in Laguna due to Tropical Storm (TS) Mario (international name is Fung-Wong), PCAARRD had successfully passed the 1st Surveillance Audit for its ISO 9001:2008 certification last September 19, 2014.

Bautista, auditors from the Anglo-Japanese-American (AJA) Registrars Inc., an independent third-party ISO certification body, conducted the surveillance audit.

The audit was participated by the PCAARRD Directors’ Council (DC) chaired by Dr. Patricio S. Faylon, PCAARRD Executive Director; the PCAARRD ISO Core Team led by Dr. Leah J. Buendia, Director of the Policy Coordination and Monitoring Division (PCMD) and Quality Management Representative (QMR), and selected members of the PCAARRD Internal Quality Audit (IQA) Team who acted as audit guides.

Bautista presenting the minor observations during the Closing Program for PCAARRD’s 1st Surveillance Audit.During the Opening Meeting, Dr. Faylon welcomed the auditors on behalf of PCAARRD.  He expressed hope that the auditors will observe the distinct quality of PCAARRD services during their surveillance audit.

Mr. Golez, as lead auditor of the two-man audit team of AJA, was in charge of the audit for ISO clauses concerning the top management, management information system, and the internal quality audit (IQA). Mr. Bautista, on the other hand, was in charge of ISO clauses concerning R&D management operations and control of documents and records control. 

At the Closing Meeting, after the surveillance audit proper, the auditors presented to the PCAARRD Directorate and staff three minor observations meant to enhance the performance of the Council. Both Dr. Faylon and Dr. Buendia recognized and appreciate these observations from the auditors and assured them that PCAARRD considers these as room for improvements. 

PCAARRD successfully passed its 1st Surveillance Audit and will be recommended for renewal of its ISO 9001:2008 Certification covering the period September 19, 2014-September 18, 2015.
