Project team members of the program, “Development of Appropriate Innovation Approaches in the Context of Selected Small Island Municipalities in Southern Luzon (Small Island Program)” bagged three recognition awards during the 23rd Founding Anniversary Celebration of the College of Public Affairs (CPAf) held in January this year.
The said program is funded by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD).
CPAf’s online celebration themed, “Forging partnerships for stronger communities and institutions in the new future” featured a short recognition ceremony, where the Small Islands Program team was presented with the 2021 Outstanding Research Team Award. The team was recognized for their exceptional contributions in conducting research in the fields of climate change adaptation, community education, and development.
The project team is led by Dr. Aileen V. Lapitan, Program and Project 1 Leader and Dr. Rodmyr F. Datoon, Project 2 Leader. The project team members are Dr. Susan T. Bacud, Mr. Francis John F. Faderogao, Mr. Emmanuel C. Flores, Ms. Farawyn E. Sarmiento, Ms. Yolanda B. Micosa, and Ms. Abigail M. Palma.
Dr. Lapitan was recognized as the 2021 Outstanding Extension Personnel for her exemplary work in promoting learning and serving communities beyond campus walls and in forging beneficial collaboration between CPAf and external partners. One of the project staff, Mr. Faderogao was given the 2021 Outstanding Junior Researcher Award for his dedication in the field of research.
The Small Island Program aims to identify technology-based livelihood opportunities and appropriate technology delivery systems and a more sustainable and inclusive development in Southern Tagalog and MIMAROPA small island municipalities.
The Small Island Program is coordinated and monitored by the Socio-Economics Research Division.
