An extraordinary event for an extraordinary program.
This year, PCARRD will gather all its regional partners, farmers, stakeholders, and business key players to the Techno Gabay Summit on July 9-10 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.
The event will provide a venue for farmers and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) to access the assistance they need from private entities to further develop their business, augment their livelihood, and ultimately to impact their well-being. The two-day event will hold a symposium, exhibition of regional products from selected Farmers’ Information and Technology Service (FITS) centers nationwide, media conference, and investment hub where there will be a business-matching event between the FITS and other business stakeholders.
The Techno Gabay Program (TGP) has been transforming the farm practices nationwide, extension services, and government-private sector linkages since it started in 2000. It has four components complementing the unique needs of different stakeholders in the program: 1) the Farmer Scientist Bureau (FSB) or Magsasaka Siyentista (MS) is composed of outstanding farmers, who are generous to share their knowledge and indigenous technologies to other farmers; 2) the FITS) centers that serve as a one-stop shop for all the services most needed by farmers, and other clientele like MSMEs, extension workers, students, and the private sector; 3) the Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) strategies that enable the farmers to have access to need-based IEC materials that help broaden their knowledge on farm management; 4) and the Information and Communications Technology (ICT), which enables the program to facilitate efficient knowledge storage and retrieval making the program’s responses to different farm needs faster and more reliable.
TGP is PCARRD’s banner program and is one of the Department of Science and Technology’s national technology transfer programs. It is aimed at bringing science-based information and technology services closer to the end-users in the agriculture, forestry and natural resources sectors.
