Los Baños, Laguna ─ PCARRD proved the conformance of its quality management system to the standards of ISO 9001:2008 and thus passed its surveillance audit on February 4.
The surveillance audit sought to confirm three things: (1) that the Council’s management system conforms to all the requirements of the audit standard; (2) that the organization has effectively implemented the planned management system; and (3) that the management system is capable of achieving the organization’s policy objectives.
After the process-based auditing, the auditors concluded that “the organization has established and maintained its management system in line with the requirements of the standard and demonstrated the ability of the system to systematically achieve agreed requirements for products or services within the scope and the organization’s policy and objectives.”
Ms. Glenda Villaflor acted as lead auditor, while Mr. Gerard L. Gallevo provided able support. Both auditors from SGS Philippines, then recommended that “based on the results of this audit and the system’s demonstrated state of development and maturity, management system certification is continued.”
PCARRD was first certified under the ISO 9001 standards in 2003, the first among the agencies of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST). Since then, the Council has continuously held to the standards of its quality management system and maintained a continual improvement program to ensure that its operational processes conform to the standard.
