Los Baños, Laguna – PCARRD along with other exhibitors, composed of landscape architects, business enterprises, and hobbyists, participated in the recently concluded Flower and Garden Show held at the University of the Philippines Los Baños Seniors’ Social Garden. With the theme “Fiesta sa Laguna”, this year’s show was hosted by the Los Baños Horticulture Society, Inc. (LBHS).
PCARRD participates yearly in this annual event. As with the previous years, the Council displayed its information, education, and communication (IEC) materials comprised of brochures and books on how to propagate ornamental plants. This initiative was in line with its Integrated Ornamental Horticulture Research and Development Program.
At the show’s opening were Los Baños Mayor Anthony 'Ton' F. Genuino with Mr. Ogie Sanchez, Municipal Tourism Officer.
In his message, Mayor Genuino lauded LBHS’s enthusiasm in making Los Baños known in the field of landscaping not only in the country, but in the international arena as well. He also said that the Local Government of Los Baños would support the Society’s future projects and become partners in advocating for the environment.
Adding zest to this year’s garden show was the outdoor exhibit, giving a more natural setting and a larger space for the different landscape designs. The exhibit highlighted Mr. Vic Chin’s obra, the principal exhibitor of the said event at the same time the vice president of LBHS.
Prior to the opening of the show, a landscaping competition took place and was participated in by the different municipalities in Laguna, namely: Lumban, Calauag, Bay, Los Baños, Pagsanjan, Liliw, Paete, and Luisana; and a garden business, the Forest Wood Garden.
