PCARRD and the Philippine Council for Aquatic and Marine Resources Research and Development (PCAMRD) will be joining a writeshop on science and technology-based farm (STBF) and community-based initiatives in Cebu City on February 6-7.
PCARRD and PCAMRD’s participation in the writeshop is in line with its agreement with Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Undersecretary for Regional Operations Maripaz L. Perez during the DOST Small Medium Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SET-UP) Year-End Planning Workshop held on December 10-14, 2007 in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
The activity aims to enhance the capability of the DOST Regional Operations (RO) and the Techno Gabay staff in developing and packaging project documents on the specific technology components of selected products in the 14 regions. The projects will form part of the science and technology community-based impact program whereby the ROs will focus on value-adding services. PCARRD and PCAMRD, on the other hand, will develop and enhance the raw materials requirements of the following commodities: coco coir, cassava, cashew, tamarind, tropical fruits (duhat and bignay), muscovado sugar, goat, halal meat, and fish.
