The Visayas Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Program’s (ViCAARP) Farms and Industry Encounters through the Science and Technology Agenda (FIESTA) on Queen Pineapple (QP) winded up its 2nd day with a technology forum cum media conference at the Visayas State University (VSU) Convention Center.
About 700 farmers from as far as Libagon, Tacloban; Palo, Albuera, Carigara, Jaro, Saint Bernard, Hilongos, Ormoc, Maasin, and Tomas Oppus in Southern Leyte, among other towns, attended the forum.
Three media partners from the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) (Stephanie Tumampos of Business Mirror; Cecilio Gunio, Jr. of Manila Standard; and Melly Tenorio of Noon Break Media) were also present during the forum.
With experts from VSU as resource persons, the forum tackled technologies on QP's production, management, use of quality planting materials, novel products, and increasing QP's marketability.
Held on November 22 and 23, 2018, the FIESTA on Queen Pineapple featured exhibits, dance presentations, cookfest, technology forum cum media conference, and poster making contest.
FIESTA is PCAARRD’s platform for R&D results utilization. It aims to promote S&T and its products towards providing competitive and profitable business ventures for the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the agriculture, aquatic and natural resources sectors of the country.
