R&D papers compete in NSAARRD

Five papers in the research and development categories will compete for top honors in the National Symposium on Agriculture and Aquatic Resources Research and Development (NSAARRD) on October 28 at PCAARRD’s Elvira O. Tan Hall.

The top five papers were selected from a roster of entries from member-agencies of the National Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Network (NAARRDN).

Since 1996, NSAARRD has provided a venue for disseminating the most outstanding regional R&D outputs in the national level and gives the NAARRDN an opportunity to keep abreast of the breakthroughs in the regions.

Now on its 18th year, the symposium-cum-competition carries the theme “Today’s best, tomorrow’s solution.”

Vying for their placements in the research category are “Fungal-derived extracellular cell wall-degrading enzymes as mycopesticides derived from Beauveria bassiana strains against tomato black leaf mold (TBLM) (Pseudocercospora fuligena)” of the Nueva Vizcaya State University, “Bioactive tripertene from Dillenia philippinensis (Katmon)” of the Cavite State University, and “Pelagic fishery and coastal habitats of Asid Gulf, Masbate: Assessment and challenges for management “ of the Bicol University.

For the development category, papers on “Upscaling and intensification of aerobic rice production system through integrated research and extension approach: Improving productivity and enhancing technology towards rice self-sufficiency” of the Isabela State University and “Production and distribution of ethnobotanical anthelmintics for free-range chickens” of the Capiz State University are in competition.

Winners will be awarded on November 10 at the New World Makati Hotel, Esperanza St., Makati City.
