Search for outstanding science administrator award extended

Science and technology (S&T) or research and development (R&D) administrators from the academe, private sector, or government may vie for the Outstanding Science Administrator Award or the Dioscoro L. Umali Medal.

According to National Academy of Science and Technology Executive Director Luningning E. Samarita, the deadline for submission of nominations is extended until February 15, 2010.

The award is given in recognition of S&T or R&D administrators who have made significant contributions to S&T through effective management and implementation of plans and programs.

Nominees will be evaluated based on their contribution to development, resource generation, dedication and commitment, and acceptance of peers and colleagues.

The award is open to all Filipino heads of S&T and/or R&D agencies or institutions from the academe, private sector, or government. He or she must be holding the said position for at least two years before the award.

Candidates should be nominated by the heads of government or private institution with the following requirements: comprehensive biodata; accomplishments or contributions to S&T or R&D management in terms of projects implemented, resources generated and the like; and effectiveness in fulfilling the mission and objectives of his or her institution.

Entries should be submitted in eight copies to the National Academy of Science and Technology Secretariat, 3rd Level, Science Heritage Building, Department of Science and Technology Complex, Bicutan, Taguig City.
