STARBOOKS turned over in three schools in Los Baños, Laguna

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), through the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD), has turned over a unit each of the Science and Technology Academic and Research-based Openly Operated Kiosks or STARBOOKS to three public schools in Los Baños, Laguna.

These are: Bayog Elementary School in Barangay Bayog; Los Baños National High School-Poblacion in Barangay Timugan; and Lopez Elementary School in Barangay Batong Malake.

Three remaining units will be donated to Mayondon Elementary School, Laguna State Polytechnic University-College of Fisheries, and Paciano Rizal Elementary School.

The STARBOOKS, developed and promoted by the DOST’s Science and Technology Information Institute (STII), is a stand-alone information kiosk that contains thousands of digitized science and technology (S&T) resources in text and video/audio formats placed in a user-friendly and specially designed pods. Students can freely access information for their course work and researchers from the STARBOOKS even without internet connection.

Six units of STARBOOKS were generated through the PCAARRD-funded and STII-implemented project, “Developing DOST-PCAARRD Innovation and Technology Center E-Library.”
