Researchers from the Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO) were recently trained on proposal packaging. The training was facilitated by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) and the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU).
The resource persons of the training were Dr. Synan S. Baguio, director of the Livestock Research Division of the Council and Dr. Teresita A. Narvaez, vice president of WMSU and director of the Western Mindanao Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (WESMAARRDEC).
Dr. Baguio highlighted the importance of translating industry problems into researchable areas. This, he said, will translate into outputs of research useful to the industry to be able to effect positive change.
The training also allowed Dr. Baguio to visit the DOST Niche Centers in the Regions for R&D (NICER) Program on Seaweeds under MSU-TCTO management and meet with the officials of the Tawi-Tawi Regional Agricultural College (TRAC). TRAC officials signified interest in conducting research on native chicken, cattle, and cassava. With the guidance of Dr. Baguio, he encouraged the researchers to package a research proposal on performance testing of Zampen native chicken in Tawi-Tawi.
This activity was organized and coordinated by the WESMAARRDEC led by Dr. Teresita A. Narvaez.
