This was what Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora, Acting Executive Director of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) said during his keynote message during the Sweetpotato Farms and Industry Encounters through the S&T Agenda (FIESTA).

Farmers, entrepreneurs, and experts discussed over the potentials of sweetpotato in a forum held on July 9, 2019 at the Sweetpotato Farms and Industry Encounters through the S&T Agenda (FIESTA) at the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), Quezon City.

Titled, “Technology Investment Policy Forum: Farmer-Industry Encounters,” the activity discussed the strengths, opportunities, and challenges of producing, processing, and marketing sweetpotato.

Watersheds provide water resources used for domestic, agricultural, and industrial purposes. They also help sustain biodiversity in an ecosystem. When properly monitored, watersheds greatly help in species conservation and could serve as a guide in making efficient development plans.

Different regions in the Philippines have sites that are called Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs). These KBAs, according to BirdLife International, are sites that are considered globally significant to conserve biodiversity.

With the goal to intensify its partnership and collaboration with international partners, the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) inked
a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI), an agency under Malaysia’s Ministry of Agriculture and Agro Based Industry.

An information system for the Industry Strategic Science and Technology Program (ISP) of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) is now being developed.

Among the most cultivated cutflower is chrysanthemum, with an average annual production of 1.59 million dozens.
