This year’s Dr. Elvira O. Tan Awards honor three papers on agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources.

The award pays tribute to Filipino scientists and researchers for their exceptional publication of research and development (R&D) results, which support PCAARRD’s mission to advance the country’s national economic and food security.

For the agriculture category, Dr. Rosemarie dR. Josue of the Mindanao State University-Maguindanao was awarded the outstanding published paper.

Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña, underscored the need for the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD), one of DOST’s sectoral Councils, to focus on regional needs.

A project that developed a mussel hatchery in University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV), Miagao, Iloilo donated a total of 200,000 mussel spats to fisherfolk in Aljuy, Iloilo.
