Importance of ‘Carabao’ Mango

The invasive growth of paper mulberry tree (Broussonetia papyrifera (L.) L’Herit ex Vent) may soon come to an end through the project, “Processing and wood quality evaluation of paper mulberry for furniture, handicrafts and other by-products.”

Funded by the council, the P1.5M project aims to establish potential use of paper mulberry wood as a strategy to control, if not regulate, its spread. This project will run for 18 months (1.5 years).

The Science and Technology Model Farm (STMF) is one of the technology transfer modalities conceptualized and developed by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD). It showcases the requirements and effects of applying the full package of technologies (POT) or “technology convergence” for identified priority commodities under the PCAARRD’s Industry Strategic S&T Program (ISP).

Twenty-six project implementers joined a three-day training, which taught them the art of effectively selling their project ideas.

Held in Cebu City recently, the training was titled “How to Get Key Decision Makers Say Yes to Your Project Ideas: A Training Course for Project Implementers.”
