Dr. Michael Y. Roleda, a scientist under the Balik Scientist Program (BSP) concluded his short-term engagement recently through an exit report presentation at the University of the Philippines-Marine Science Institute (UP-MSI), his host institution.     

Roleda gave a lecture titled “Red, Blue, and Green and Shades in Between: Environmental or Genetic Control in Color Expression in Kappaphycus?”

Twenty-three project leaders and researchers flocked to Cebu City on April 17, 2017 for a five-day training initiated by the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD).    

Titled as “Outcomes-Based Research Monitoring and Evaluation for Industry Strategic S&T Plans (ISP) as well as programs and projects,” the training aimed to enhance the skills of the participant-stakeholders of the ISPs.

Nakapaglinang ng teknolohiya upang makagawa ng uling mula sa kawayan na may mataas na kalidad para sa iba’t-ibang gamit na pang industriya.

Ang teknolohiya ay nalinang ng Forest Products Research and Development Institute (FPRDI), isa sa mga tanggapan ng Department of Science and Technology (DOST).

Nalinang ang teknolohiya sa ilalim ng proyekto na may titulong “High Quality Charcoal from Bamboo for Industrial Uses.”

Pinondohan at sumailalim sa pagsubaybay ng Philippine Council for Agriculture,

Ang pagtugon sa suliranin ng bansa kaugnay ng pagkasira ng kapaligiran ay nangangailangan ng solusyon na makalipunan at makakalikasan.  

Kaugnay nito, isang pambansang pulong na tinawag na ‘Natural Capital Accounting’ ang isinagawa kamakailan.

Layon ng pulong na tugunan ang usapin sa pagkakamit ng kaunlaran sa paraang hindi makasasama sa kapaligiran at hindi magsasakripisyo sa hinaharap.

Dumalo sa isang pagsasanay ang dalawampu’t-anim na tagapagpatupad ng mga proyekto para matutunan ang mga paraan kung paano makukuha ang pagsang-ayon sa kanilang mga proyekto ng mga tagapagpondo at taga gawa ng mga polisiya. 

Ang pagsasanay na ginawa sa Cebu City, ay dinaluhan ng mga kinatawan ng 16 na institusyon na katuwang ng Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development ng Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD).   

Layon ng pagsasanay na pabutihin ang

Dumalo sa limang araw na pagsasanay sa Cebu City ang dalawampu’t-tatlong tagapamuno ng mga proyekto at mananaliksik. 

Binigyan ng titulong “Outcomes-Based Research Monitoring and Evaluation for Industry Strategic S&T Programs (ISP),” ang pagsasanay. Layon nitong pahusayin ang kakayahan ng mga nagsanay sa pagsubaybay at pagsukat sa implementasyon ng programa at ang naging ambag nito sa tinatawag na ‘outcomes pathways.’
