INDANG, Cavite – Nagsagawa ng isang pag-aaral ang mga mananaliksik ng Cavite State University (CvSU) para sa pangangalaga at pangangasiwa ng genetic resources ng kape (Coffea spp.) sa bansa. Ito ay upang tugunan ang tuloy-tuloy na pagkawala ng maraming mahahalagang hene ng kape.   

Kumalap ang mga mananaliksik ng animnapu’t siyam (69) na ‘accession’ na nabibilang  sa apat na mahahalagang  uri ng kape. Binubuo ito ng 28 accessions ng C. Arabica, 15 ng C. liberica, 9 ng C. excelsa at 17 ng C.

Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Fortunato T. de la Peña was recently conferred with Doctor of Laws honoris causa by the University of the Philippines (UP) during the 21st Commencement Exercises of UP Mindanao

The degree was conferred upon de la Peña to honor his contributions to UP where he served as Director for the UP Institute for Small Scale Industries (1992-2001) and Vice President for Planning and Development for the entire UP System (1993-1999).
