Celebrating agri-aqua success with FIESTA on Jackfruit at iba pa. In a two-day event (August 8-9, 2017), the Visayas Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Program (ViCAARP) showcases the research and development gains of jackfruit as a primary commodity with three other products coconut, pineapple, and shellfish.

Participants of the Farms and Industry Encounters through the Science and Technology Agenda (FIESTA) on Jackfruit at Iba Pa had their share of slices of jackfruits after the opening ceremonies of the event at the Upper Oval of the Visayas State University (VSU), Baybay City, Leyte.

The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCAARRD) joins various government agencies, private sectors, and State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in discussing new R&D initiatives and formulate sustainable conservation practices on Philippine Native Plants and help revitalize the Philippine Floriculture industry in a workshop held at Brentwood Suites, Quezon City recently.

The low production of small ruminants like goat can be addressed by the use of foreign bloodlines of bucks, and purebred island born, but they can be quite expensive. Another production concern is inbreeding. This happens when the bucks that are available in the farms are related to the does’ offspring.
